Background

For various reasons I lost touch with the extended Cooper families.

Many years had gone by and I had no idea where my aunts, cousins etc. lived-if indeed they were still living. Almost miraculously, a casual conversation at work in 2003, identified the fact that a work colleague's mother was (my aunt) Inger Cooper's best friend!

Inger visited Blackpool where I met up with her for the first time since, we estimated 1962. Through that I met my cousin John Cooper in August 2004 (first time since c.1960). I visited Anne Lord, John's mum in 2005. Again, over forty years had passed since I had seen her.

The meetings have resulted in 'trading' of family photos and stories and have filled in a number of gaps in my family knowledge. Hopefully this may get some of us to get back in touch. I hope so.

Sad to report that Jack Cooper died on 26 July 2007 after a long illness.

Jack was a lovely man of whom my memories of include his wonderful sense of humour and hearty laugh. On a visit to my dad (Fred) with his wife Renee a tape recording was made (now sadly lost). Jack sang 'The Folks Who Live on the Hill.' I always think of him when I hear it. It was long before I had heard the song anywhere else. He leave Renee his wofe of over 50 years, son Bobby, daughter Pam and their families.
